When you think of Wisconsin, you probably think of Cheese. Or at least our Cheeseheads, right? We take cheesy cuisine pretty seriously around here. From dishes that use cheese in unique ways to fresh cheese from all corners of the state, you’ll be hard pressed to not experience a cheesy delight when visiting. You’ll want to bring cheese home with you, too.

When it comes to real Wisconsin cheese, there are a variety of things to consider. There are your typical fresh curds, which should squeak when you bite into them. These can be found at local farmers markets, as well as shops like Brat Stop, Mars Cheese Castle, and Tenuta’s Delicatessen & Liquors. Likewise, cheese by the pound can be found in these venues, as well.

You might be surprised to know that cheese curds come in white cheddar and yellow cheddar varieties, as well as a multitude of flavors. Ranch, Dill, Buffalo, and even Bourbon Chipotle are available.

Other treats with big cheese flavors are great to take home after your visits. The White and Yellow Cheddar Blend of Popcorn at Sandy’s Popper cannot be missed! Think sweet with Cannoli from Tenuta’s, made with decadent mascarpone. Speaking of sweet, Chocolate Cheese at Mars Cheese Castle is reminiscent of fudge.
