(You can also take the Metra train here!) We are a Wisconsin Harbor Town, an urban downtown, and a rural countryside in one destination. If you are the outdoorsy type, here are some fun facts: We have the highest catch-per hour rate in Wisconsin. Fish on Lake Michigan for king salmon, coho salmon, brown trout, rainbow trout, and lake trout. Three Kenosha County communities are designated Arbor Day Foundation’s “Tree City USA” communities: City of Kenosha, Bristol, and Paddock Lake. The City of Kenosha and Kenosha County are certified as a “Bird City”. There’s even a designated Wetland of International Importance by the Ramsar Convention located here: Chiwaukee Prairie State Natural Area.

Did you know that Kenosha has five museums – with dinos, mammoths, Kenosha-made automobiles, Civil War & maritime history, and a lighthouse to climb?! There’s a Miniature Statue of Liberty in the Kenosha History Center. A plaque in the Library Park Historic District notes the 1915 birthplace of acclaimed actor, writer, director, and producer Orson Welles. In the same historic district, the site of an Underground Railroad stop is marked with a plaque. A sculpture walk lines one side of the harbor. Explore all this and more in Kenosha!

Here are some fun facts about dining in Kenosha: Franks' Diner is nationally known, having appeared on many TV shows including Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.” The Food Network Sandwich King, Jeff Mauro, declared that Mars Cheese Castle’s grilled cheese is one of his top-eight sandwiches in the country. Dozens of restaurants and specialty food shops throughout Kenosha County join Visit Kenosha each winter to present Kenosha Restaurant Week.
