You could say being a chef is in her genes. Theresa Ianni Robinson is carrying on a family tradition. While her father Guglielmo Ianni continues to operate restaurants on the Emerald Coast of Florida, she is running the show in Wisconsin. Tuscany Bistro Bar & Grill is a family business located at I-94 and Highway 50 (7410 - 118th Ave.). That’s not to be confused with the family's Tuscany Italian Bistro that’s in Florida. However, much of the seafood served here does come from there. Outside of working at her family businesses, Theresa has served as an executive chef at a hospital and also worked in the food industry at various other locations in Kenosha. The restaurant features Northern Italian Cuisine, as her father is from Italy. Some of the recipes used are from his mother Adalgisa.

Guglielmo moved to Wisconsin 40 years ago and opened several businesses including restaurants and bars. Born in Wisconsin, Theresa moved with her father to Florida in 1994 and they started opening restaurants there. She would stay in Florida for many years, until returning to Wisconsin with her husband Anthony and their children Hunter and Hailey. Anthony helps her run the restaurant.

Tuscany’s website shares “We are not just a seafood restaurant, steak house, or an Italian restaurant; we’re something different. Our authentic Northern Italian menu includes the finest pastas, freshest seafood, and the most tender veal, chicken, lamb and steak, as well as gourmet pizzas.” Menu categories include Appetizers, Salads, Pasta, Homemade Pasta, Guglielmo’s Favorite Pastas, and Meat. Gourmet pizzas, gluten-free options, desserts, and a Happy Hour menu are also available. There is a full bar, patio seating, and a private room is available for rehearsal dinners, birthdays, corporate events, graduation parties, holiday parties, and more.

Northern Italian items and also popular Americanized items are on the menu. One of the more popular menu items is Linguine Pescatore – pasta with clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops and fish, sautéed with garlic, olive oil and crushed plum tomato – choice of red or white wine sauce. Lobster tail can be added. They also offer specials, according to what’s in season. They can accommodate any need or diet.

Theresa says they are “bringing to the table a lot of love”. They have many loyal, repeat customers and a very knowledgeable staff who is ready to pair your meal with the proper wine. If you’re dining at Tuscany, you’ve got to have a glass of wine, she says. A variety of different wines are offered, including ones customers have asked for. Wine by the bottle or by the glass is offered.

Theresa says of the staff: “They are what make this establishment.” She says you have to love what you’re doing, and love to be in the restaurant business. It’s about the food, the customers, and good hospitality. “Consistency is a quality we carry with our restaurants for the past 30 years,” she says. Great product and service go a long way.

Theresa would serve many celebrities in Florida – including actors Ingo Rademacher (“Jax” on General Hospital) and the late Wayne Rogers ("Trapper John” in M*A*S*H). Yet it didn’t matter if the customer was a celebrity or not – the motto was “We cook the same for everybody.” Let her and her staff cook for you next time you’re in the Kenosha Area!
