Donovan Scherer’s Studio Moonfall is a bookstore, art studio, and publishing company with well over 100 titles of illustrated novels, coloring books, and more. In 2019, Studio Moonfall opened at 5031 7th Avenue – when Donovan expanded his business from mobile stores, comic conventions, art fairs, and a Kenosha HarborMarket booth to his own storefront.

Visit Kenosha: What is your favorite thing(s) about Kenosha?
Donovan: I always enjoy going down to Lake Michigan to make sure none of the creatures make it on land. As long as we work together, we can ensure they stay within the depths they belong.
Visit Kenosha: What makes your business unique?
Donovan: Studio Moonfall, as a bookstore, focuses on featuring local authors. Whether the books are fictional tales or stories about Kenosha’s history, you’re sure to find some clues about what lurks throughout the night in this city.
Visit Kenosha: What's your favorite season here? Why?
Donovan: Foggy season. Sure, the things crawling out of the lake have a better chance to hide if they make it on shore but it also gives us a better chance to catch them.
Visit Kenosha: Why did you choose Kenosha for your business?
Donovan: I like to think Kenosha chose me.
Visit Kenosha: What do you like about being a business owner?
Donovan: With running my own business, I can expand into fun new things like starting the Kenosha Book Festival.
Visit Kenosha: What are your favorite activities to do in Kenosha?
Donovan: Kenosha HarborMarket. Aside from working in my shop, I’m not allowed to go anywhere else.
Visit Kenosha: What do your customers/visitors say about Kenosha? Your business?
Donovan: People coming from out of town always say that they wish they had a shop like Studio Moonfall back home and are considering moving here just so they can visit the store more often.
