Kenosha is gearing up for a celebration like no other. On Saturday, November 1st, three beloved local bars—Station on 6th, Rustic Road Brewing Company, and Tavern on 6th—are joining forces to host the first-ever Rock the Block – Block Party, taking place along 6th Avenue between 57th and 58th Streets from 11 AM to 8 PM.
This all-day event promises live music, local food trucks, and good vibes for a great cause—benefitting American Legion Post 21. It’s a day designed to bring people together to enjoy what Kenosha does best: music, camaraderie, and community spirit.

From Idea to Action
The idea for Rock the Block sparked when Rustic Road’s Chuck Nelson and Tavern on 6th’s Kyle Kavalauskas approached Jenni and Mike Zoerner and Emily Sturino of Station on 6th with a simple idea: what if the whole block threw one last big bash before winter?
“Rustic Road Brewery and Tavern on 6th approached us with the idea of joining forces to create an epic community event,” says Jenni Zoerner of Station on 6th. “Together, the three bars collaborated to bring Rock the Block to life; a fun, high-energy celebration designed to bring people downtown, support local businesses, and showcase everything our community has to offer.”
Nelson adds, “Neighbors make the best partners for this kind of event. Anytime you can bring people together to enjoy music, food, and camaraderie, it’s a good thing.”

The Team Behind Rustic Road Brewing Company
Located at 5706 6th Avenue, Rustic Road Brewing Company holds a special place in Kenosha’s downtown story. Opened in 2012, it became the city’s first downtown craft brewery and under the ownership of Chuck Nelson, it has continued to evolve into a community hub for craft beer lovers.
Chuck, who took over Rustic Road in 2018, has a deep appreciation for both the art and science of brewing. His team crafts small-batch beers that blend creativity with tradition offering everything from smooth lagers to bold stouts and unique seasonal brews. Rustic Road is known not only for its rotating taps but also for its laid-back, welcoming atmosphere, where locals and visitors alike gather to share stories over a pint.
In addition to their award-winning brews, Rustic Road also serves up an impressive menu of elevated pub fare. From loaded flatbreads and soft pretzels to hearty sandwiches and shareable bites, the brewery’s kitchen is known for pairing perfectly with their craft creations. Whether you’re stopping in for a flight, lunch, or dinner, Rustic Road’s food lineup makes it a full experience—not just a brewery stop.
Beyond brewing, Chuck has helped organize several downtown events—like Lakeside Oktoberfest—cementing Rustic Road’s reputation as more than a brewery; it’s a place where community and craft intersect. His enthusiasm for events like Rock the Block stems from that same passion. “For me, it’s about more than beer,” he says. “It’s about connection—friends, music, and the shared experience that makes Kenosha special.”
That dedication to community and collaboration is what makes Rustic Road a vital part of downtown’s heartbeat—and a driving force behind Rock the Block.

The Team Behind Station on 6th
Located at 5703 6th Avenue, Station on 6th has quickly become a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike. Inspired by the bravery, camaraderie, and dedication of first responders, the firefighter-themed bar is known for its warm atmosphere, community spirit, and commitment to giving back.
Station on 6th is co-owned by a team of eight dedicated individuals, but for Rock the Block, Jenni and Mike Zoerner and their daughter Emily Sturino have taken the lead in planning and organizing the event.
Mike, a proud Lieutenant with the Kenosha Fire Department for over 35 years, brings his passion for service and teamwork into everything he does—both at the station and behind the bar. His wife Jenni, along with their daughter Emily, are known for their creativity, enthusiasm, and heart for community connection. Together, the three have become the driving force behind Station on 6th’s involvement in Rock the Block, helping turn the vision into a reality.
“For us, this is about more than a party,” says Jenni. “It’s about celebrating our community, supporting local businesses, and creating something memorable that brings people together.”
Their combined leadership has helped transform Station on 6th into a true gathering place—where good times are always on duty.

The Team Behind Tavern on 6th
Located at 5712 6th Avenue, Tavern on 6th has become a cornerstone of Kenosha’s nightlife thanks to father-and-son team Rick and Kyle Kavalauskas. Together, they’ve built a space known for its friendly, come-as-you-are vibe and a knack for mixing craft cocktails, comfort, and community.
Kyle, who has been active in the downtown scene for years, helped bring the Rock the Block idea to life as part of the event’s core planning committee. His enthusiasm for bringing people together—paired with Rick’s long-standing connection to Kenosha’s hospitality community—has helped shape the vision for a block party that celebrates collaboration over competition.
“Kenosha’s downtown has always been about connection,” Kyle shared in a past interview. “At Tavern on 6th, we just want people to relax, enjoy great drinks, and feel like they’re part of something local and real.” That same spirit is at the heart of Rock the Block.

A Party with Purpose
While Rock the Block is all about having fun, there’s heart behind the music and beer taps. A portion of the proceeds will go directly to American Legion Post 21, who will also be presenting the colors and helping serve beer throughout the day.
“Supporting the American Legion Post 21 is our way of giving back to those who have served and protected our country,” says Jenni. “The military holds a special place in my heart; my father served in the Navy and my son is currently in the Army —so it felt right to tie this celebration to a cause that honors those who’ve given so much.”
Music, Food, and Fall Vibes
With a lineup that spans genres—from rock to country to folk—the block party promises something for everyone. Performances include The Solution, Floral Gin, Country Country, and Valius to close out the night.
“We’ve got something for everyone—folk, country, punk rock vibes,” says Chuck Nelson. “I’m especially curious to see how Valius draws—they’ve got a big following from Chicago.”
Food lovers will find plenty to enjoy, too. Captain Mike’s Galley Food Truck and Cut Stone will be on site serving up favorites, while attendees can enjoy Rustic Road’s craft beers, ciders, and mulled wine, plus drinks from all three venues. “Both establishments absolutely do a fantastic job and have incredible food,” adds Emily. “You’ll just have to come and see what they’re serving up!”'

A Collaboration That Rocks
“What makes Rock the Block unique is that it brings together three bars that could be seen as competitors—but instead, we’re showing that we support each other like family,” Jenni explains. “Each venue offers its own atmosphere and experience, yet we all come together to celebrate collaboration and shared success.”
Emily agrees: “When you see neighboring businesses working together, it really shows how strong the downtown community is. We all want to do something great for Kenosha—it’s inspiring.”
Building Something Bigger
Planning a street-wide event wasn’t easy—permits, coordination, and logistics required teamwork and patience—but the energy and enthusiasm from all sides have made it worthwhile. “It takes an amazing amount of work to throw a party like this,” Chuck says. “But I’m thankful for the other businesses, our sponsors, and the community that’s supported us through it all.”
Sponsors include Visit Kenosha, LaMacchia Travel, The Lettering Machine, Dibble’s Outdoor Services, The Schaffer Financial Group, LLC, Diamond Properties, Epique, Church & Market, and The Ktown Connects Podcast—a true reflection of the community spirit powering the event.
A Day to Remember
From food and drinks to live performances, Rock the Block is about more than just a party—it’s about celebrating what makes Kenosha so special. “I want this event to benefit everyone,” says Emily. “The businesses, the bands, the guests—everyone should walk away with great memories and a reason to come back.”
Chuck sums it up best: “Great times with friends and a sense of community—that’s what it’s all about.”

As the inaugural Rock the Block kicks off, the organizers are already dreaming bigger. “We’d love to see this become a recurring tradition,” says Jenni. “Maybe one day, it could even expand down all of 6th Avenue. For now, we’re just excited to see everyone come out and celebrate with us.”
So, grab your friends, bring your appetite, and get ready to Rock the Block on November 1st—because when Kenosha comes together, the whole city shines a little brighter.
