One of the great privileges of retirement is the leisurely lunch. The midday meal is no longer sandwiched between meetings and appointments. It is a stand-alone event worthy of the planning and consideration of a three-day research seminar.

My curiosity was piqued when I noticed that Church & Market was open for lunch.
What? I missed the memo.
I’ve enjoyed cocktails and apps at this contemporary downtown eatery but never a leisurely lunch.
What a treat! Four of us leisurely lunch ladies met for lively conversation and a delicious lunch. We each had something different and were all very happy with our choices. The menu is manageable but offers diversity and novelty. From apps to salads, and pastas to pinsas, there’s something for all appetites and preferences. The food was fresh, tasty, and plated beautifully.

The service was great - regular check-ins but not intrusive to our “focused discussions.” Ladies who lunch always appreciate the water carafe left on the table – another thing “Church” does right. We sat in the “back room” which is also used for special events and party bookings. We are fancy, after all. The atmosphere was bright, open, and completely wheelchair accessible. We agreed we’d be back to try out downtown rooftop dining this summer!
Kenosha is a great place to live and retire, especially if you are a lady who lunches! TAKE ME TO CHURCH!
