For years, House of Nutrition & Wellness has stood as a trusted source for holistic health in Kenosha – providing the community with high-quality supplements, expert advice, and a friendly, neighborhood vibe. Now under new ownership, the shop is staying true to its roots while embracing a wave of revitalizing updates.
Carlos Manjarrez, a longtime Kenosha resident, officially stepped into ownership in March 2025. While the name and mission remain, his fresh energy, local connections, and health-conscious vision are already making waves – including the addition of kombucha on tap and a coffee bar in the works.
A Personal Passion Turns Professional
Carlos, who has lived in Kenosha since 1996, is no stranger to healthy living. As a father of two and a sports enthusiast, wellness is a major part of his daily life. When the opportunity arose to acquire House of Nutrition, it felt like a natural extension of his lifestyle.
“For years, I was looking for ways to live healthier,” Carlos says. “When this opportunity came up, it clicked. I knew I wanted to help others access better health, just like I was trying to do for myself.”
Continuing a Trusted Tradition
Carlos credits much of the smooth transition to former owner Mark Wistar, who helped build the shop’s loyal following over many years.
“Mark has been a mentor throughout this journey,” Carlos says. “His commitment to the store and its customers is something I deeply respect. I want to honor that while continuing to grow.”
New Flavors, Familiar Values
House of Nutrition now features kombucha on tap with flavors like strawberry raspberry leaf and hibiscus passion fruit – offered in 32oz and 64oz pours. Coffee service is soon to follow, and Carlos is curating an expanded selection of wellness goods while forging partnerships with both local and out-of-state vendors.
“There’s something special about supporting Wisconsin-made products, but I also want to bring in unique offerings from elsewhere,” he explains. “It’s about balance – celebrating tradition while staying open to innovation.”
Rooted in Community
Carlos sees House of Nutrition as more than a store. To him, it’s a space to connect with the community, encourage wellness, and support healthy lifestyles through education and access. “The relationships are what make this place special,” he says. “Whether someone is just starting their wellness journey or has been shopping here for years, we want them to feel at home.” His vision for the future includes a full-fledged wellness hub: a welcoming space where people gather for great coffee, nourishing drinks, top-tier supplements, and conversations that matter.
What’s Next?
In the next five years, Carlos sees House of Nutrition continuing to evolve – offering new products, hosting community events, and creating an even stronger presence in Kenosha’s health and wellness landscape. “I’m excited about where we’re going,” he says. “But more than anything, I’m proud of the team we’ve built. Our staff is smart, adaptable, and truly dedicated to helping our customers thrive.”
