The History of Jockey:
Kenosha has been home sweet home for Jockey International, Inc. since 1893. Jockey (then known as S.T. Cooper & Sons) was founded in 1876 by Reverend Samuel T. Cooper. The company originated as a hosiery business with Cooper producing stockings for lumberjacks suffering from the poor quality socks they were wearing. Since then, Jockey has broadened its product offering to include men’s and women’s underwear, sportswear and sleepwear styles available in over 120 countries worldwide. As Jockey continues to grow, it’s remained focus on crafting innovative, high-quality garments to all of its loyal customers. Today, the world headquarters for Jockey remains in Kenosha, where an office building and two stores are located. Jockey Factory Store opened in Downtown Kenosha on May 27, 2011. The store replaced Jockey’s 39th Avenue Closeout Center, which had served the Kenosha area since 1977. The other store is at Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets. Learn more about Jockey’s history here.
