Before we know it, 2019 will be here! There is so much to look forward to in the new year … including Kenosha Restaurant Week in February and Kenosha Tall Ships® in August! As the keeper of the VisitKenosha.com Event Calendar, I can already tell you what day the Kingfish start playing baseball, when the Wisconsin Marathon is, who’s coming to Country Thunder, and more! Here are just a few highlights from our 2019 event calendar; mark your calendar now!

Kenosha Restaurant Week is February 2-10. This is a nine-day celebration of our community’s delicious dining scene. Enjoy a culinary adventure as you dine around the greater Kenosha Area, exploring a diverse selection of local, one-of-a-kind restaurants offering multi-course meals at tasty savings. The talented chefs behind Kenosha’s most popular restaurants have cooked up special fixed-price menus for Breakfast or Brunch ($10), Lunch ($10) and Dinner ($20 and $30). Try a restaurant that’s new to you or re-visit an old favorite!

The Wisconsin Marathon is May 4; registration is open now. Did you know our marathon is a part of three different racing series? You can run the Wisconsin Marathon on Saturday and the Kalamazoo Marathon (Kalamazoo, MI) on Sunday and Earn Your Mittens! Or, you can run the half marathon in both towns the same weekend and complete the Half and Half Challenge. Or, you can challenge yourself to see all the Great Lakes and complete the 24 different marathons that are along the great lakes during the Great Lakes Marathon Series. Make that your New Year’s Resolution!

The sixth season for the Kenosha Kingfish baseball team opens May 28 at home against the Wisconsin Woodchucks. The Kenosha Kingfish are members of the Northwoods League. The team plays at Historic Simmons Field. And yes, that’s the same place where the All-American Girls Professional Baseball Team, the Kenosha Comets, played in the 1940s and 1950s. A ballpark outing features elite collegiate baseball and affordable, family-friendly entertainment.

July 6-7 marks the opening weekend of the Bristol Renaissance Faire. Join in the celebration of the day in 1574 when Queen Elizabeth visited Bristol, England! Start planning your costumes now for these theme weekends: Swashbuckler Weekend (July 13-14), RennCon™ (July 27-28), Monsters & Magic (August 3-4), Steampunk Invasion (August 10-11), and Heroes & Villains (August 17-18). There’s a ticket sale going on now through January 6: the Holidazzle Sale.

The 2019 lineup for the Country Thunder Music Festival includes Tim McGraw, Chris Stapleton, Jake Owen, Luke Combs, and many more country artists. The event takes place July 18-21. I’ve seen many big names at this festival over the years, including Reba McEntire, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Alan Jackson, and Gretchen Wilson!

Kenosha Tall Ships® happens in August at the Kenosha Harbor. It has been more than a decade since Kenosha hosted a tall ships festival. Vessels will arrive in a “parade of sail” on the afternoon of August 1, led by Kenosha’s own tall ship – Red Witch. Festival activities take place August 2-4:  Tour passes will allow people to explore the majestic vessels from stern to bow. Specific ships will offer sail-away tours on Lake Michigan. Live entertainment, food and beverage vendors, and children’s activities will add to the festivities.

And so the calendar goes on and on. Before I wrap this up, here's one more event to mention: Just in time for Valentine’s Day – I’ve heard something about a Chairlift Speed Dating event taking place at Wilmot Mountain on February 10! Find love on the slopes!

Learn about these events and more throughout the year by frequently checking our Event Calendar. Also stay in the know by signing up for our e-newsletters: the Visit Kenosha Monthly Newsletter highlights events, museum exhibits, restaurants, attractions, shops, and more Kenosha fun. EventSource - Weekly Event Highlights lets you know what’s happening each weekend. And our 2019 Kenosha Area Visitors Guide will be available in early January!

It's never too early to schedule your #KenoshaFun! Happy New Year!
