It’s Meridith here – the CVB’s “Ambassador of Fun” (according to AM 1050 WLIP’s Bill Lawrence). I want to tell you about 101 Things to See & Do for $10 & Under - Many are FREE! I’m not going to list all 101 items right here – but I highly recommend you visit our FUN 101 page for the NEW Fall 2018 / Winter 2019 list. Why, you ask?

Because just as it’s valuable to use our Kenosha Area Visitors Guide and website VisitKenosha.com as a reference guide when visiting – or living in – Kenosha, it’s important to check out our FUN 101 list. If you’re looking for an affordable Midwest destination to visit – this list will come in handy when planning your itinerary. If you’re a local, you can refer to the list when planning a date night, hosting out-of-town family, or organizing a play date for the kids. Learn where to go for indoor fun on a cold, winter day – or for an outdoor adventure in the snow! Use the list to discover places that are new to you or to reacquaint yourself with long-time favorites.

The FUN 101 list is partly an event calendar (though by no means is it a complete calendar), and partly a guide to restaurants, shops, attractions, and seasonal activities. The common denominator is that the list only includes items that are $10 or under. And many, many are free! It’s a great list for anyone!

To give you a sample of the list right here, right now – I could break the list down by fall activities and winter activities. I could share a few of my favorite things. Or I could separate the family fun ideas from the adults-only activities. Instead, I’m going to dash ahead to the holidays. Mark your calendar now with these key dates:

FUN 101 #30: Nov 23 is Lightin’ Up! Downtown. Enjoy the City Tree Lighting, Santa, special sales, family activities, live entertainment, and more. Many FREE activities

FUN 101 #31: See two historic mansions decorated for the holidays! Starting Nov 24, enjoy Christmas at Kemper, a series of holiday events at Kemper Center. Many events FREE

FUN 101 #33: Always popular, the Carthage Christmas Festival: There Shall Be Peace takes place Nov 30-Dec 2. (You need to plan ahead for this and get your free tickets NOW!)

FUN 101 #43: Dec 1 is Kenosha HarborHoliday – International Market & Festival. Enjoy events inside two museums, an outdoor Winter HarborMarket, and more. FREE admission and family activities

FUN 101 #44: Lakeside Players Presents: A Charlie Brown Christmas at Rhode Center for the Arts, Dec 7-9 and 14-16. $10

FUN 101 #46: A Kenosha Pops Christmas - the group’s annual holiday concert - takes place Dec 15 at Carthage College. FREE

FUN 101 #49: Spend New Year’s Eve with your family at Wilmot Mountain. Be sure to stay for the fireworks! FREE activities

The FUN 101 list is updated twice a year — for the fall/winter months and spring/summer months. The current list is online and is also available in brochure format at our Visitor Information Centers: at 812 - 56th Street and I-94 & Hwy. 165. See how many items you can check off the list before the last snowman is made - because before you know it Spring will be here!
