Swimsuit season is here! Nothing is more fun for kids than splashing around in the water to cool off on a hot day! As residents of northern Illinois, we visit the Kenosha Area regularly but are always finding new places to enjoy. My crew has been researching the best pools and splash pads for your family to enjoy over the last few weeks to help YOU have the most SPLASH-tastic summer ever.

The Splash Pad at HarborPark
We were pleasantly surprised at how big the splash pad was when we arrived to the south end of HarborPark, near the Southport Marina. We parked in the lot just south of 56th Street, right next to the playground. A short walk to the splash pad, and the kids hopped right into the fun! With two separate areas to splash around in, it’s perfect for toddlers and teens, alike!

I loved how there was plenty of seating around the splash pad. That made it easy to keep an eye on the kids from all angles! With views of the boats in the harbor, it was very relaxing as a parent, too! A public restroom is just steps away, and there are some shaded areas to sit down to enjoy a snack. The splash pad is free to use for anyone!

The Pool and Splash Pad at Anderson Park
Anderson Park features one of the city’s two public pools. We had a chance to visit it on Fathers’ Day weekend, when it opened. To my amazement, it was a much bigger venue than I expected. For a small fee, you can enjoy the pool, complete with locker rooms and showers for your convenience.

This pool has something for everyone: a splash pad, a 2-foot swimming pool and slide for smaller kids, and then a larger swimming pool with diving board and slides for those looking for some real excitement! There are plenty of deck chairs and umbrella tables to utilize, too. The pool is open Tuesday-Sunday and daily passes can be purchased, as well as season passes.

The Pool at Washington Park
The second of the City of Kenosha public swimming pools, Washington Park features a large pool with water slides and locker rooms. It’s a great pool to lounge at on one of their deck chairs, while you watch your kids go down one of the water slides!

Although there is no separate splash pad here, the pool does have a zero-depth entry with water sprinklers for smaller kids to play in. The pool is open Tuesday-Sunday, and daily passes can be purchased, as well as season passes.

The public pools and splash pads typically stay open until mid-August. Indoor pool fun can be found at the Kenosha YMCA, where day passes are available and members from other YMCA facilities can take advantage of the Y-AWAY program. There are also five Lake Michigan beaches at public parks, which offer free access and public parking, to enjoy while visiting Kenosha. So, grab your swim gear and floaties and make some waves!
