Downtown Kenosha hosts the area’s newest (and most musical) public art project this summer! Keyed Up Kenosha features 13 pianos designed and decorated by local artists and placed throughout the Downtown district for the community to play and enjoy. From Chopsticks to Beethoven and everything in between, visitors are invited to stop and play their favorite tunes as they explore Downtown Kenosha. Check the listed website for more information, including artist bios and a map of piano locations.

Following the exhibit, pianos will be auctioned off to benefit future Downtown events and promotions.

Keyed Up Kenosha is a collaborative project by Downtown Kenosha, Inc., the City of Kenosha and Kenosha News.

On August 18 at Simmons Island Beach House, during the Downtown Kenosha Pop-Up Beer Garden event, nine of the pianos are up for bids in a silent auction. Bids beginning at $100 will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on August 18, and the winners will be notified at the end of the evening. Proceeds will go to Downtown Kenosha Inc. (DKI), an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization and growth of downtown Kenosha, in association with the Downtown Business Improvement District. There is no additional cost to move the piano to the winning bidders’ locations, thanks to a partnership with About Time Moving Systems, LLC.
