Peanut Butter & Jam Concert Series at Veterans Memorial Park

Located at the lakefront/harbor and 52nd Street. Featuring the Veterans Memorial Fountain and Lone Soldier Memorial. Special events, including the summer Peanut Butter & Jam concert series, are held here.

Dedicated in 2005, the Lone Soldier Memorial features a seven-foot tall lone soldier created in cast bonze as its centerpiece. The work serves to commemorate all of the wars fought by the United States since 1776 as well as the total casualties of each war. The monument complements the Veterans Memorial Fountain. The fountain features mementos from historic battlegrounds, including an eight-ton boulder from Okinawa and sand from Omaha and Utah beaches in Normandy, and a stainless steel globe with continents made of cast bronze at its center.

The ice rink opened on November 29, 2019. For the third year, the City has set up a 32-foot by 60-foot ice rink at Veterans Memorial Park outside City Hall. The rink is open for skating free of charge from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily – weather permitting. No hockey pucks or sticks are allowed on the ice rink. Food and beverages also are not allowed on the ice rink.

During posted rental hours, people may check out free ice skates, sponsored by the Mayor’s Youth Commission, at the Skate Hut outside the ice rink. Child and adult sizes are available for check-out by dropping off a photo ID, such as a valid driver’s license or a valid school-issued ID. Ice skate rental hours are:
