Breakfast on the Go

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Or at least that’s what I’ve heard. While I enjoy making breakfast at home with my family on the weekends, and having a quick bagel or egg during the work week, sometimes it’s nice to change things up. That’s when I look for a good local meal to enjoy.

Kenosha has many wonderful brunch spots (try Sazzy B) and some delicious diners too (give The Coffee Pot or Franks Diner a try), but when you’re in a hurry, there are also great restaurants around Kenosha that offer on-the-go options. Which is great if you’re heading to work or if you just want to get out and explore Kenosha.

During the week my coworkers and I always enjoy a breakfast from the centrally located Daily Dose Cafe. Their paninis are delicious, too (the garlic aioli can’t be beat!). They also offer a ‘herbivorous’ menu for those who prefer a plant-based breakfast. If we are looking to feed a few people on a budget, we opt for the full order of Bisculicious. Biscuits and gravy atop sliced fried potatoes, topped with two eggs your way- it’s bursting with flavor and is so hearty, it usually feeds 4 of us without making us feel too full. If you are looking to add a drink to your meal, the frappes are a good option for a sweet morning pick-me-up.

Buzz Café or “The Buzz” as locals affectionately call it, is another favorite for me, as I really enjoy their specialty lattes (not overly sweet like the chain coffee shop flavored lattes). The bagel sandwiches are great and they feature unique flavor combinations I wouldn’t think to pair at home. The Buzz offers menu staples as well as seasonal additions that keep things interesting. You can call in your order to either of these two restaurants and your meal is typically ready within 10-15 minutes. Can’t beat that!

Looking for another place for a quick carry-out breakfast? Try Harborside Common Grounds. This warm and inviting café is located on the lakefront and features wonderful offerings any time of the day. For breakfast, you can enjoy the view while you wait for the café staff to assemble your made-to-order breakfast sandwich, or pick something from their bakery display. The scones and cinnamon rolls always look delicious. And for drinks, try the chocolate chai tea.

The Café at The Stella is another option for a grab-and-go breakfast. You don’t need to be a guest at The Stella Hotel & Ballroom to enjoy the great food!

Whatever option you choose to satisfy your breakfast craving, Kenosha has something for everyone. Check out some of the above-mentioned restaurants and cafes during Kenosha Restaurant Week for additional savings!
