It's Gonna Be May!

4/30/2020 - Jake Hoey

May is upon us and there is still plenty to enjoy in the Kenosha Area

With all the changes to our way of life these past few weeks, one of the few constants has been the weather.  We saw Spring dawn upon us in Kenosha after what was honestly a rather mild Winter.  It is still very welcome though! Already this month we had a gorgeous day on April 7th when the highs were in the upper 70s to near 80°F!  We haven’t been that warm since, with the mildest days only reaching the mid 60s.   April will end up being the first month of 2020 with below normal temperatures on average in Kenosha, but it is only slightly below normal, thankfully.

This week has had a great deal of rain with some flooding issues in spots.  Thursday will start out rainy, but the pattern comes to an end Thursday afternoon, and we could see some clearing skies before the day is done.  It might be best to try indoor activities like our fun Activity Guide or online shopping at some great local businesses such as Duck Duck Goose, Sandy’s Popper, and Studio Moonfall.  For dinner, why not get a delicious pizza delivered from one of our awesome pizza places like Valeo's, Kenosha Kaiser’s, or Villa D'Carlo?

This coming Friday should see warming weather and early sunshine before some clouds and a few scattered showers move through for the afternoon/evening.  On Saturday we could reach the 70°F mark at long last, though it could be a bit cooler near the lake.  This is above normal for this time of year in Kenosha, so it might be a good day to take a stroll along the Kenosha lakefront.  The Sculpture Walk along the harbor is always fun, but be sure to keep your distance from other people out enjoying a fine spring day.  Our classic drive-in restaurants, The Spot and Big Star, are open for takeout, so you can grab a burger and a root beer on your way home from your outing.  Some of Kenosha's breweries are offering packaged craft beer to go, so swinging by PUBLIC Craft Brewing Co., Kenosha Brewing Co., R'Noggin Brewing, or Rustic Road is a great way to support a local small business and enjoy some tasty flavors at the same time.

On Sunday, the Kenosha area should cool down a little, but remain quite pleasant with highs in the mid to upper 60s.  Why not hit the links at one of our newly reopened golf courses such as Petrifying Springs and Brighton Dale Links?  So much about this spring season is different and strange, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still enjoy the warming weather like we usually do.  We just have to be a bit more careful and creative about how we do it.
