One of the things Kenosha is known for is the rich Italian heritage in our community. It can be found in our telephone book, on buildings in our area, and in the cuisine here. There is no shortage of great Italian food – of all kinds  –  in Kenosha. From pasta to pizza and everything in between, you’re sure to find something to enjoy! Here are some of my favorite places that offer a taste of Italy.

The Italian American Club is a great place to bring families together! Most Italian families in Kenosha simply call it the IA or IA Club. It has hosted weddings and special occasions of all sizes since 1923. That’s when several Italian society clubs joined together to build one large community Italian club.  The cuisine served here is superb, with choices like mouthwatering garlic chicken, homemade lasagna, Italian sausage and peppers, Sicilian pork chops and even a Friday fish fry. When you visit this restaurant, you will be greeted and served by an amazing staff who have worked here for decades! The house sauce is still the recipe of one of the founding members!

Stella’s Casa Capri, located on Kenosha’s northside,  is now operated by the family’s third generation. The restaurant offers a wide variety of pasta options made to order with fresh and local ingredients. Some favorites at Casa Capri include Ma Rose’s favorite Stuffed Shells, Fettucine Carbonara, create your own pizza and many, many more delicious items! If you have a big celebration, this is the place to have it! The banquet menu has options for 20 to 100 people, so with plenty of space and plenty of food… you won’t be disappointed!

Villa D’Carlo was one of the very first pizzerias in town and the pizza is still as good as ever! They offer nice, thin crust pizza made to order, boneless Prime Rib, Broasted Chicken, and seafood entrees all available for dine in or delivery. Don’t forget to try their gnocchi with meatballs or pasta with clam sauce! When our relatives come from out of state, we always take them to “Carl’s” for good memories and good pizza! We’ve also had reunion gatherings in their lower level banquet hall and they’ve always taken great care of us. You can’t go wrong with Villa D’Carlo for a unique dining atmosphere, especially when they decorate for the holidays!

Tuscany Bistro is a casual, yet fine dining restaurant with candles on every table and a pergola showcasing their wall of wine, which separates the bar from the dining room. They serve Northern Italian cuisine starting with fabulous appetizers such as Mussels Diavola, charcuterie boards, Gamberi (shrimp) & Calamari, along with several other options. Some of the pasta dishes include Truffle Ravioli, Manicotti alla Romano, Pappardelle Bolognese and so much more! You must remember to save some room for desserts, which include Tiramisu, a gluten free Chocolate Cake, and ….  a Limoncello Flute consisting of lemon gelato and lemons from Sicily, along with several other sweet options to finish your dining experience! My mouth is watering!
