Did you know that Kenosha is the home of three awesome craft breweries that also have great taprooms? Come and check them out.  Two are dog-friendly, and all three are family-friendly venues.

Kenosha’s local breweries offer a variety of seasonal and mainstay brews that could satisfy any palette.  If you are looking for a particular type or style of beer, check their websites to confirm that they are serving that variety on the day you want to visit – or be adventurous and come prepared to try something new.  Because these breweries do everything in small batches, some beers will sell out the first day they are released, so watch for announcements about release parties and tastings, too. Plus, you’ll want to check out other events like paint parties, food pairings, live music and entertainment nights, and more – breweries are happening places, after all. All three of the breweries sell growlers and selected cans and bottles in their taprooms so you can get a taste of the local flavors to take home with you, too. So… let’s learn about the breweries themselves.

Rustic Road Brewing Company has been serving Downtown Kenosha since 2012, and was Kenosha’s was the first modern craft brewery in Kenosha.  When Rustic moved to its new location from its original digs, it added a food menu featuring wings, burgers, sandwiches, and plenty of appetizers. They also have a full bar so you can enjoy cocktails or wine, as well.  In their new space, you can view the entire brewing process, separated only by a short fence.  If they are not actively brewing, Rustic Road has a great video which shows the process.  While you are waiting for your food, play some of the many board games that they have available or simply spend time enjoying the industrial vibe from all of the manufacturing antiques used for the venue’s décor.  Rustic Road is a great place to go if some of your party are not beer drinkers or if your crew is hungry!

PUBLIC Craft Brewing Co. is also located in Downtown Kenosha and will soon be expanding to a larger space. PUBLIC’s slogan of "Beer for the People" perfectly describes their offerings - which focus on local partnerships and mainly just beer. Be prepared for beers that had ingredients supplied by Elsie Mae’s Can and Pie’s – including some grains, fruits, and more! PULBIC only serves snacks from local companies like Sandy's Poppers, and they allow you to bring in your own food or order-in a delivery service. The taproom is dog-friendly (if your dog is people-friendly, of course).  When you are not sipping, you can play board games, hammerschlagen, table shuffleboard, foosball, or just read a book from their library.  The brewing area is tucked away in the back where you can see the brewers working on beers through a large window.  Since the brewery doesn't have a TV or jukebox,  Public is a great place for conversations with family and friends.  It is also host to live music on select nights, and a regular open mic night. Don't forget to check out their coasters – think about contributing your masterpiece for others to enjoy.

R'Noggin Brewing Co. is the newest of the three breweries and is located just off I-94. The most unique feature to this brewery is their large garage-style doors that open to a grassy biergarten area. You can see the staff brewing through additional large garage doors in the taproom.  R'Noggin has indoor and outdoor games, Monday night Netflix movies, and a fire pit when the weather gets cold.  Check out the great comic book style posters that they have for all of their beers – the art is incredible.  R'Noggin works with local food trucks, so food available changes often. This brewery is an excellent place if you want to sit back outside and enjoy a refreshing beer during the summer months or when you want to Netflix and Brew!

All three taprooms sell branded merchandise so grab a t-shirt or sweatshirt, get a pint glass to take home (great for beer or any other beverage you enjoy) - showing your brewery loyalty is the coolest! Then you can raise your glass to Kenosha Fun any time! Cheers!
