Driving down Sheridan Road in Kenosha you will come across a culinary gem. This unassuming store front hides classic décor with a modern edge. No reservations necessary for parties under four, but they are recommended on weekends. This place is poppin’ on the weekend! Twisted Cuisine is a causal restaurant that offers gourmet food with unique twists. They have a seasonal menu, excellently paired with an extensive wine, beer, and mixed drinks menu, that will keep you coming back for more. The Twisted menu is broken up into a variety of categories based on portion size, making it great for sharing.

Our first visit was during one of their winter menus. We had three appetizers: Jalapeno Eggrolls filled with jalapeno, cream cheese, bacon, and cheddar, with an apricot sauce. Crunchy, creamy, spicy. A trifecta of deliciousness. Shrimp Tempura was another choice, with a drizzle of soy reduction and chili sauce. We also had the Pull-Apart Bread, which was baked with spinach dip, bacon, mozzarella, chive and chimichurri. The pull-apart bread had us drooling. Our main course was the Filet Mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts. You could cut that filet with a spoon. So juicy and tender. We also had the Pork Chops, which were served with egg noodles in a roasted tomato sauce, mushrooms and spicy Italian sausage. This dish was very rich and hearty.  The Blue Hornet and Chipotle Honey Manhattan were the delicious cocktails we chose for our meal pairing. Our server, Dana, was very helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. We definitely looked forward to our next visit.

We planned our second visit to try the new summer menu. It did not disappoint. Our appetizers were Pickles, Caprese, and Corn Cakes. The Pickles were an assortment of pickled seasonal vegetables (carrots, Brussel sprouts, green beans, and asparagus). My mouth is still watering from the pickled vegetables. The Caprese,  which is fried buffalo mozzarella, cold roasted tomatoes, fresh basil and balsamic served with crunchy bread. Light and full of flavor, it was a perfect summer dish. Corn Cakes consisted of aged cheddar, queso fresco, tomato, avocado, and lime crema - a great combo of flavors that go well together. I was a little more adventurous when choosing my main course this time around. Jambalaya (prepared with braised alligator, trinity vegetables, creole tomato sauce, and rice pilaf) was served with a piece of corn bread. Spoon after spoon of heaven! I also tried the elk burger which had white cheddar cheese, special sauce, garlic bread and homemade pickles. The elk burger was very fresh tasting and savory. We also got the short ribs that came with yucca fries, asparagus, Korean sauce, and green onions. The short ribs paired well with the yucca fries for a unique twist on a side dish. Our cocktails with dinner were the Blue Hornet again, the Burnt Melons and the Cherry Bark Collins. Some of these drinks have simple syrup which is made in-house, but it can be left out (if you prefer less sweetness) and still taste great. Our server, Renee, was very attentive and guided us through the new menu to make our dining experience very enjoyable.

We definitely recommend Twisted Cuisine as a great night out for local residents and visitors to Kenosha, alike. Great food. Tasty drinks. Nice atmosphere. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. It is just an awesome place for a casual dinner out, a special occasion or a romantic date night. Bon appetite!
