If you are looking for satisfying fare from lunch to late night, then you need to indulge in a meal at Ron’s Place. Prominently located on the corner of 52nd Street and 33rd Avenue, and established in 1972 by Ron Pendrick, this corner bar offers way more than you could imagine. Ron’s vision was to elevate his bar to one that was a step up from the expected and comfortable with incredible food and fantastic beverages, served by personable, friendly staff. He hit all those marks and then some.

Stopping in at the bar for a drink or wanting to start out with a little something before your meal, they offer a wide selection of mouthwatering appetizers. From classic French fries, hot wings, and nachos to scrumptious cheddar cheese curds, cheesy broccoli & cauliflower, and cream cheese poppers to flavorful onion straws, mini tacos, and their famous Italian Fries (which are a flatbread breadstick, of sorts).

The offerings at Ron’s Place are self-proclaimed as local and traditional - and they are just that! Being a life-long Kenosha resident, I can tell you they are known in these parts for their Ron’s Original Famous 5 x 5. The amazingly satisfying 5 x 5 features a half pound of the choicest ground beef, cooked to order any way you want it with several topping options, and all housed between a steaming sesame seed bun. This burger is a must have!

Their selection of burgers and sandwiches are sure to hit the spot for everyone in your group. The Big Bertha is their delicious monster sandwich filled with grilled chicken breast, turkey, bacon, ham, lettuce, Swiss cheese, mayonnaise, and tomato all served on toasted sourdough bread with French fries. The Black and Blue Crunch is a tasty half pound Black Angus patty topped with bleu cheese crumbles and crunchy onion straws, and served with curly fries. If you are looking for something spicy try their Fire Bird, a crispy chicken breast dipped in their house-made Ron’s Sauce and served on a sesame seed bun.

It doesn’t stop at burgers and sandwiches, though. If you are in the mood for something from the surf side, you will want to visit them on Wednesdays or Fridays when they have their special hand breaded Walleye sandwich or Walleye dinner. Throughout the week you can order calamari, fried clams, fish & chips, butterfly shrimp, jumbo crab meat and cheese stuffed shrimp, or a cod “sea-wich”, too. Daily soup offerings can be served in a bread bowl for a hearty warm-up. On the lighter side, three different kinds of Caesar salads are on the menu. This is that elevated offering Ron was aiming for when he opened!

Last but not least, your dining experience here wouldn’t be complete without trying one of their refreshing Long Island Iced Teas. Start your “Tour of the Teas” to work your way through the 40+ enchanting flavors! There are refreshing options that invoke the taste of summer such as Watermelon, Cherry Berry, or Caribbean Breeze. Or you can mellow out with a classic Ron’s Relaxer. Perhaps you’re feeling more adventurous, in which case the Pink Panther, Bada Bing, Zombie Slam, or Grapeful Dead Long Island Iced Teas may be your thirst-quenchers of choice.

The atmosphere in this establishment is casual and down to earth. It is a great place for friends to come and enjoy each other’s company while partaking in appetizers, entrees, or even just for drinks. It is a classic neighborhood bar that serves the entire community, featuring booth seating, off-street parking, television, and take-out. And they are also very reasonably priced - so you won’t break the bank while having a great time.

Ron’s Place is a MUST try for everyone, whether you are a local or visiting the Kenosha Area. Come “belly up” to the bar, soak in the cozy atmosphere, and enjoy phenomenal food.
