About the Bambino:

A 43 foot long by 13 foot wide fishing boat built in the early 1930s and originally named the ‘Bambino’ is part of the outfield wall and serves as a party venue. The Bambino was long used as a commercial fishing boat in Chesapeake Bay and most recently resided at Mount Clemens Marine in Michigan. After securing permits in four states and traveling for nearly a day, the oversized load fishing boat arrived in April 2014, to be used for private parties during all Kingfish home games. The boat is physically a part of the outfield wall and gives Simmons Field the most unique outfield wall in all of baseball. The Bambino also houses the left field foul pole, doubling as a zip line, which the Kingfish mascot, King Elvis The First, uses to deliver the first pitch to the pitcher’s mound during every Kingfish home game.

Team History:

2014 was the first season for the Kingfish. In 2015, the Kingfish won the Northwoods League Summer Collegiate World Series, the first championship in franchise history! This is after the Kingfish were the first and second half champion in the South Division. In 2016, the Kingfish hosted the 2016 Northwoods League All-Star Game, with a Home Run Derby at the Harbor.

About the Northwoods League:

The Kenosha Kingfish are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. The 23-year-old summer collegiate league is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 20 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 160 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including two-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS), two-time World Series Champion Ben Zobrist (CHC) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (DET), Curtis Granderson (NYM) and Lucas Duda (NYM).
