Join us for a story (Raccoons and Ripe Corn by Jim Arnosky) about a mother raccoon and her young who have an all-night feast in a cornfield, with a hike tied to the story. This is a free family event.
9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Help us to continue to restore our Oak Savanna and Prairie areas. We will be cutting down buckthorn, multi-flora rose, and other invasive plants. There is no cost.

Thar be food, drinks and fun for yar whole family! Thar be hot dogs, popcorn, soda and more for the little mateys; rum, beer, and a roast pig for the bigg-argh mateys. Activities will include a pirate bounce house, face painting and other kids' games!

At the peak, you can see up to 60 meteors per hour! There will be a short presentation before heading out with hot chocolate to watch.

A Down & Dirty 5K Obstacle Course Run! How "tough" is it? As tough as you want it to be. The course is designed for everyone. It is perfect for recreational runners competing in their first 5K race and still challenging enough for the competitive athlete.
8:30 - 9:30 a.m.: Packet pick-up. The run begins at 10 a.m., with hikers leaving immediately after.
Richard Bong State Recreation Area and the Bong Naturalist Association announce the Fifteenth Annual Wolf Lake Trail Run/Walk. Enjoy a beautiful fall run/hike (3.9 miles). Funds raised are earmarked for the planned Nature Explore Classroom - a natural play area for families.
