Downtown merchants roll out the welcome mats with extended hours, special promotions and sales, live entertainment and family activities.

August 8 activities include:

  • Triple Dipper Ice Cream social takes place on the grounds of Southport Light Station Museum. Details here.
  • Scoops Ice Cream & Candy Shoppe Re-Grand Opening. Details here.
  • Re:Vision Art Gallery, 4625 Sheridan Road, will host a special event in the upstairs gallery from 5pm to 9pm following regular business hours. Artist/cartoonist Jerry Belland will be featured in a solo show of his work, focusing on his “Memorial Drive” series. His solo show will be exhibited throughout the month of July. The main gallery will also be open during the event.  (262-764-6603)

Each Second Saturday features:

  • An Opening Reception from 6-9 p.m. for the current Featured Artist Exhibit at Lemon Street Gallery.
  • A Behind-the-Scenes Tour of Simmons Library: 2:30 p.m. Enjoy a peek behind the scenes of our local historic treasure: the Simmons Library! Learn about Zalmon Simmons, Daniel H. Burnham, and the history of this beautiful building. See behind-the-scene areas such as the coal room and the medical room. The tour will involve stairs and spiral staircases.
  • Specials from 4 - 8 p.m. at Alpaca Art Pottery Painting, with designated items that you don't need to pay a studio fee to paint.
